Tonight’s big premiere at the BFI London Film Festival was for Labor Day, starring Kate Winslet and Josh Brolin.
Directed by the man behind Juno (2007) and Young Adult (2011), Jason Reitman, Labor Day is a intriguing film set in backwater America about broken families and desire. Kate Winslet plays a depressed single mother, whose entire life revolves around her young son, played by Dylan Minnette. One day there entire life is turned around when an escaped convict (Josh Brolin) stumbles into their home seeking refuge. Although not concerned, the Mother and Son listen to the convicts story and soon begin to realise their options are considerably limited.
